Can you iron eco-leather?

You should never iron eco-leather directly. Ironing eco-leather can cause serious damage to it.

When you apply heat from an iron to eco-leather, the high temperature can melt the synthetic materials that are often used in making eco-leather. For example, if it’s made from polyurethane or PVC, these substances can start to warp or melt under the heat of the iron. This will not only ruin the smooth surface of the leather but also make it look lumpy and uneven.

Even if you set the iron to a low heat setting, it’s still risky. The pressure from the iron can also leave marks on the eco-leather. It might flatten the natural texture of the leather in an unnatural way or create shiny spots where the heat and pressure were applied. These marks are usually very hard to remove and can make your eco-leather item look damaged and less attractive.

If your eco-leather has some wrinkles or creases that you want to get rid of, there are other better ways. You can try using a steamer set to a low steam setting and hold it a few inches away from the leather surface. The gentle steam can help to relax the wrinkles without applying direct heat and pressure like an iron does. Or you can stuff the eco-leather item with soft materials like tissue paper to help it regain its shape slowly over time instead of using an iron.

In conclusion, ironing is not suitable for eco-leather at all, and you should choose other proper methods to deal with any issues related to its shape or wrinkles.
