How to fix peeling faux leather furniture

When you notice that your faux leather furniture is peeling, don't worry as there are ways to fix it. First, you have to prepare the area properly. Use a soft cloth and some mild soap mixed with warm water to gently clean the peeling part and the surrounding area. This will remove any dirt or debris that could interfere with the repair. Then let it dry completely. Make sure there's no moisture left on the surface before you start the actual fixing process.

Next, if there are any loose pieces of the peeling faux leather that are just hanging on or about to come off completely, carefully peel them away by hand. But do it gently so that you don't damage the underlying layer or make the area bigger. You can use a pair of small scissors to trim any ragged edges neatly to make the area look more even.

For small peeling areas, you can use a special faux leather repair adhesive. You can find these products at hardware stores or online. Apply a thin layer of the adhesive to the back of the peeled part or directly onto the area where it has come off using a small brush. Then press the peeled piece back into place firmly. Use a clean cloth to smooth it out and make sure there are no air bubbles or wrinkles. Let the adhesive dry completely according to the instructions on the product label. Usually, it might take a few hours for it to set properly.

In case of larger peeling areas, you might need to use a patch of faux leather. Try to find a patch that matches the color and texture of your furniture as closely as possible. Cut the patch to a size that's a bit larger than the damaged area. Apply a layer of adhesive to both the patch and the damaged area on the furniture. Then carefully place the patch over the damaged spot and press it down firmly. Smooth it out with a cloth to remove any air pockets and make it adhere well. Once again, let the adhesive dry fully.

After the repair is done and the adhesive has dried, you can use a matching color of faux leather paint or dye to touch up the area if there's any visible difference in color. This will make the repair look more seamless. And try to avoid putting too much pressure on the repaired area for a while to ensure that the fix lasts. By following these steps, you can make your peeling faux leather furniture look much better.
